About the Position:
The Clinician is responsible for providing trauma informed group counseling services to participants. This includes a variety of services including assessment, treatment planning, participant education, documentation, follow-up, etc. The clinician’s primary responsibility will be to provide quality clinical care through group therapy with collaboration of CDCR DRP and CCHS institution staff.
This is a Non-Exempt position.
What You Will Do:
- Ensure the program has family-focused services and is trauma-informed.
- Provide and conduct trauma-informed treatment groups using trauma-informed curricula.
- Provide structured therapeutic services and gender-responsive trauma-informed treatment services.
- Provide services offered in the context of family and other relationships including individual and group counseling.
- Participate in case conferences and provide guidance in determining education and vocational goals based on the interest and preferences of each woman in addition to individualized assessments, as needed.
- Provide specialized classes and workshops, relevant topics to include Domestic Violence, Incest Survivors, Family Relationships, other topics as needed.
- Maintain clinical supervision, including development of the treatment plan, review of client’s files, and initial and/or ongoing client assessments; and
- Work collaboratively with CDCR/CCHCS and institution staff.
- Attend workshops, meetings, and trainings as requested by supervisor.
- May serve as Community Advocate role in addition to job as requested by community leadership.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring:
- The Clinician shall be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or another professional licensed by the State of California to provide mental health services in California; and shall have a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing trauma-informed services.
- Licensed or registered by the Board of Behavioral Sciences and maintain current and active license that is not under suspension or probation.
- Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of drug abuse.
- Knowledge of contractual requirements of contract is essential.
- Operational knowledge of MS-Word, Excel, and Access.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures generated by association with substance abuse treatment participants.
- Ability to provide genuine warmth, empathy, and honest sensitivity to participants to facilitate positive change.
- Ability to provide participants with frequent acknowledgment and reinforcement for positive behaviors, as well as consistent and predictable feedback for negative behaviors, which may include reporting violations to CDCR staff.
- Ensure that excellence and integrity are applied to professional responsibilities to provide optimal services to participants.
- Protect and maintain participants’ health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records and participant information.
